Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3)

New Delhi

The mission of the Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3), formerly CEDPA, is to empower women and girls in all areas of development, enabling them to realize their rights and opportunitiesand achieve gender equality. It has reached over one million girls and boys in India and equipped them with practical life skills.

The C3 is committed to supporting women in taking on leadership roles within their families and communities. Women supported by C3 are taking up leadership roles in promoting family planning, ensuring birth preparedness, guiding adolescents, providing community-based services and increasing awareness.

C3 youth programmes have a two-fold focus: empowering adolescents from out-of-school through civil society and government-led community-based initiatives, and working at scale in partnership with state governments to effectively implement school adolescent education and health programmes in an effort to influence adolescent health and education policy and guidelines.

The Centre partners with local organizations to mobilize women, families, communities and local leaders to make women’s health a priority. It has been working to improve the lives and health status of pregnant women, mothers, children and adolescents by increasing awareness and fostering positive health-seeking behaviour. It is doing this in several ways: by promoting knowledge on maternal health entitlements, birth preparedness, and complication-readiness, enhancing the capacity of health workers and monitoring health systems, and promoting social behaviour-change communication.

C3 is the founding member and National Secretariat of the White Ribbon Alliance in India. Its areas of operation include Delhi, Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.
