ARC - Advocating Reproductive Choices

The ARC Mission:

To create an enabling environment for making a range of effective and safe methods of contraceptive options available to men and women, suitable to them individually and as a couple, during their different reproductive phases so as to improve maternal and child health.

The objectives of the coalition are to:

  • Advocate for sexual and reproductive health in India
  • Address on the huge unmet need for contraception
  • Expand contraceptive choices for the Indian people
  • Make safe, effective, and quality contraceptives available to all at an affordable cost
  • Partner with policymakers and key stakeholders in Indian politics and civil society to advocate for the above
The demographic indices of the most densely populated states of north India – Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand – clearly indicate not only high fertility rates, but also show slow rates of improvement. To encourage progress in these areas, ARC has established State Chapters in these five states to initiate and augment advocacy processes to address state-specific issues related to contraception.
