ARC - Advocating Reproductive Choices

The ARC Secretariat is currently held by The Population Foundation of India (PFI), a national non-governmental organisation at the forefront of policy advocacy and research on population, health and development issues in India.

The ARC Secretariat plays a pivotal role in the operations of the coalition:

  • Takes responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of ARC
  • Organises meetings, workshops, and conferences as required by the Core Committee, with prior intimation to ARC members
  • Is responsible for developing ARC State Chapters in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand
  • Guides, supports, and monitors the advocacy efforts of State Chapters as they build the capacity and experience necessary to function independently
  • Represents State Chapters at Core Committee meetings
  • Prepares the agenda and minutes of ARC meetings, and keeps maintains regular communication with ARC members at national and state levels
  • Facilitates advocacy efforts, as per the recommendations of the Core Committee
  • Builds capacity of members and stakeholders at state and national levels
  • The ARC Secretariat has the mandate to submit proposals to donors and secure funding on behalf of the ARC coalition
